Dr. Roseann Capanna-Hodge is a children’s mental health expert, psychologist, therapist, author and the founder of the Global Institute for Children’s Mental Health.
She has spent more than 30 years working with children, teens and families, with a focus on challenges such as ADHD, autism, anxiety, OCD, mood issues, emotional dysregulation, PANS / PANDAS, Lyme-related issues and complex nervous system presentations.
One of the most interesting parts of Dr. Roseann’s work is her use of QEEG brain mapping. In the podcast, she explained that after seeing thousands of brain maps, she repeatedly observed patterns of overactivation, underactivation, neuroinflammation and poor nervous system regulation in children and adults who were struggling.
Her approach is built around the idea that regulation comes first. Rather than seeing behaviour as the main problem, she encourages parents and practitioners to ask what the nervous system is trying to communicate.
