About The PEMF Podcast

Why We Started The PEMF Podcast

The PEMF Podcast didn’t start as a podcast, it started as a need. After a serious health scare, our host Andy Smith found himself searching for answers when conventional approaches fell short. It was through discovering PEMF, and experiencing its impact first-hand, that everything changed. That moment sparked not just a recovery, but a deeper curiosity to understand how and why it worked.

After going on to found NewMed and helping make PEMF more accessible across the UK, it became clear that access was only part of the problem. There was still a gap between real-world results, clinical research, and what people actually understood. The industry was filled with noise, conflicting claims, and strong bias. The podcast was created to change that.

What started as a mission to educate the UK quickly evolved into a global platform, designed to cut through the confusion and make PEMF, and the wider world of health and performance, easier to understand in a way that is clear, practical, and unbiased. See a timeline of the podcast’s journey below.

The PEMF Podcast Timeline

Our Mission

From day one, the goal has been simple: to help people understand PEMF in a way that is clear, practical, and unbiased. What started as conversations around PEMF has naturally expanded into wider discussions around recovery, longevity, nervous system support, and emerging wellness technologies. Each episode brings together scientists, clinicians, founders, and practitioners to explore what actually matters and how it can be applied in the real world.

Our Approach to PEMF Education

We focus on clarity over hype. The aim is not to overcomplicate or oversell, but to break down complex topics into something useful and actionable. Every conversation is grounded in real-world use, combining research with experience to give a more complete and honest picture of how these technologies fit into everyday life.

Our Core Values

Clarity Over Complexity

Wellness can often feel overwhelming, especially when it comes to technology. Our focus is on simplifying complex ideas into clear, practical insights that people can actually understand and use.

Experience Meets Evidence

We believe the strongest understanding comes from combining research with real-world results. Science provides the foundation, but lived experience brings it to life in a way that matters day to day.

Education Before Promotion

The podcast exists to inform first. Any products, technologies, or partnerships are secondary and only included when they genuinely add value to the conversation.

Trust Through Transparency

Trust is built through honesty. That means open conversations, realistic expectations, and a commitment to sharing information in a way that helps people make informed decisions about their health.

About Our Host: Andy Smith

Andy Smith is the founder of NewMed and CELLER8 and host of The PEMF Podcast but his journey into PEMF began through his own personal health experience. After developing severe stomach pain during a business trip to Australia, Andy was eventually rushed into emergency surgery in the UK, where doctors discovered a serious infected lump near his belly button. Although it was removed, the infection continued to return, leaving him searching for another way to support his recovery.

Andy then remembered a German PEMF company he had previously come across through work connected to his father’s horses. He managed to get hold of a PEMF mat and began using it twice a day. His personal experience with PEMF became the turning point that inspired him to make the technology more accessible and better understood in the UK.

In 2014, Andy founded NewMed, focusing solely on PEMF therapy, education and devices. After nearly a decade in the industry, and after working with many different PEMF systems, he went on to create CELLER8 in 2022. Through The PEMF Podcast, Andy now continues that mission by speaking with researchers, clinicians, engineers and experts from around the world to help people better understand PEMF and its real-world applications.

Andy’s Journey at NewMed

Since founding NewMed in 2014, Andy Smith has spent over a decade helping people understand PEMF therapy and the many different devices available. NewMed began as a dedicated PEMF platform, giving people in the UK easier access to PEMF technology and guidance on what may suit their needs.

After years of seeing how confusing the PEMF market can be, Andy made the decision at the start of 2026 to de-stock the NewMed website and move more of his educational work over to The PEMF Podcast and this website.

Through the podcast and website, Andy continues to explore PEMF with researchers, clinicians, engineers and device creators, while also helping people understand the differences between PEMF devices through reviews, comparisons and educational resources.

Andy’s Journey at CELLER8

We actively avoid mentioning CELLER8 on the podcast, as it goes against one of our core values: Education Before Promotion. However, to also align with another core value, Trust Through Transparency, we felt it was important to openly share Andy’s connection with CELLER8.

After nearly a decade of working with different PEMF devices through NewMed, Andy began developing CELLER8 as a way to bring together what he felt were the most important features in a PEMF system. Following six years of development, CELLER8 launched in 2022.

Although Andy is the founder of CELLER8, The PEMF Podcast exists as an educational platform first. The goal is to explore PEMF openly, speak with a wide range of experts, and help people better understand the science, technology and differences between devices, without turning the podcast into a promotion for any one brand.

About Our Co-Host: Joshua Roberts

Josh joined the NewMed team in February 2023, bringing a background in social media, editing and sales. He initially joined to help manage the company’s websites, before quickly expanding his role to include video production, photography and wider content creation.

After nearly a year with the team, Josh and Jade, Andy’s wife, pitched the idea of creating a podcast with one clear aim: to build an unbiased educational platform dedicated to PEMF. From that idea, The PEMF Podcast was born. It took time to find its direction, but after a year the podcast had grown into a regular fortnightly show featuring a wide range of guests, alongside bonus educational episodes hosted by Josh and Andy.

Today, Josh continues to manage the websites and oversees the behind-the-scenes production of the podcast. He works as the producer, manages the video and content workflow, and also appears as co-host on the bonus educational episodes.

Inside the Hop House Podcast Studio

We created our new dedicated podcast studio to give The PEMF Podcast a professional, permanent home, complete with high-quality recording equipment, soundproofing and air conditioning.

Rather than keeping the space to ourselves, we decided to open it to the public through our podcast production company, helping other creators, businesses and experts bring their own shows to life in a comfortable, fully equipped studio.
